2007/2008 Large Specialized Epic XC Full Suspension MTB Mountain Bike. This listing is for a used Specialized Epic bike.

The frame is a large size and has 26 inch wheels. I sadly have to admit it's not getting a look in recently (too many bikes) and it's no good as a toddler taxi. It's time for someone else to have enjoy. I bought this second hand 4/5 years ago and have completely rebuilt it. Frame: Specialized Epic M4 aluminium frame with rear Fox float/Brain shock that seems in good working order.

I'm not a shock scientist and haven't kept up with any service schedule but it works great with no apparent leaks and full rebound speed adjustability. Rear triangle/linkage works fine, without play/wobble. 1 1/8 inch threadless steerer. Down tube bottle cage and unused mounts on seat tube and under down tube contain bolts and seem sound - I just haven't used them.

Seem to be in good working order and I've not had any cause for complaint. Rebound adjustment knob is a little stiff for bare fingers but turns fine if you have gloves on. I got them second hand off a friend to replace the original Fox Float forks. The damper control knob (where the fork crown meets the stanchion) was missing when I got these so I've replaced it. Unfortunately the adjustments here and lockout don't seem to be working and as I say, I'm not a shock fettler so I haven't dared investigate.

I've been told by experienced riders that the shock is working fine regardless, it's just missing a bit of fine tuning on the setup. Air chamber is sound and there are no leaks anywhere.

Stanchions are clean and unmarked. I've regularly wiped them down with isopropyl alcohol and lightly re-greased with appropriate shock grease (that doesn't rot the seals). When I tool the photos there was electrical tape holing on the front brake hose but I've since then fitted a replacement hose clamp. Rear Derailleur: Shimano Deore XT 10 speed. Shifter: Shimano Deore XT 10 speed mechanical. Gear cable: Jagwire sealed cabling.

Chainset: Shimano Deore (a triple I think). Chainrings: Narrow-wide 36t mounted to the middle ring position to give best chainline. Bottom Bracket: Shimano hollowtech II. Cassette: Shimano 11-40t 10 speed with Absolute Black extender sprocket.

Chain: Sunrace 10 speed, waxed, so fast and nice and clean. 160mm discs front and rear. Handlebar: Bontrager Isozone 660mm and Isozone grips. Stem: Bontrager 110mm stem, 31.8mm clamp. Headset: recently replaced headset with generic alloy sealed bearing model M-Part? Wheels: Solid 26 inch Mavic Cross Ride. Not sure if they support tubeless, I've never tried. They're well used but have never been a problem and seem to be running well.

Tyres: Rear: Almost new Specialized Fast Track 26x2.00. Front: almost new Specialized Dirt Control 26x1.90. A spare nearly new Specialized Fast Track 26x2.00 is also included. Not used much and in good condition.

Seatpost: Generic aluminium 27.2mm seatpost 2.5mm setback. This is shimmed in the frame as the frame takes a 30.9mm seatpost as standard - scope for an externally-routed dropper (not included).
